The University of Guelph is regarded as one of Canada's prestigious universities, with a reputation for excellent teaching, study, and facilities. The University, was founded in 1964 and has a long history of innovation and had three colleges. Nowadays there are seven Colleges which educate and conduct cutting-edge research. The University of Guelph Campuses

 

The University of Guelph integrates historical and modern architecture with innovative technology to create picturesque, safe campuses and a welcoming, supportive atmosphere. The university has three campuses: Guelph, Toronto and Ridgetown. The 412-hectare main campus Guelph, which encompasses a 165-hectare botanic garden and a 12-hectare Research Park, is about an hour's drive from Toronto. The campus also contains a number of prominent post-war modernist structures, that were built during the school's expansion plan in the 1960s. The University of Guelph offers a unique mix of theoretical and applied study that enable students to obtain huge variety types of degrees: diploma, certificate, bachelor, etc.

 

Ridgetown Campus is concentrated on teaching and research. Agriculture, environment protection, horse care, gardening, and veterinary technology are among the diploma programs offered at Ridgetown. This campus  also provides one-year certificate programs in veterinary office management. Ridgetown, with a population of only 3,450 people, is a small town with a lot of historical attractions. One of Ridgetown's best features for student experience is its small student number. Students are lucky to know their professors and classmates because of the small class sizes, and they also have easier access to many hands-on educational activities. However,  Ridgetown is not short in extracurricular activities. From the student council to the ecological club, and many others, there are many organizations and clubs on campus that promote students' engagement. Intramural activities presented in Ridgetown's new athletic facilities keep students busy while allowing them to meet new people.

 

More than 5,000 students live on-campus, making Ontario's largest residence system. More than 200 student organizations are available, including 19 intramurals, 17 varsity teams and 22 athletic teams.  There are around 4,000 part-time positions available on-campus.  There are almost 170,000 alumni in 160 states.

The University of Guelph offers over 80 undergraduate programs, over 100 graduate and Phd study programs, co-op education in a variety of disciplines, overseas students support, continuing education for lifelong learners, diploma programs, certificate programs and access to an exceptional form of higher education. Experiential learning, open learning, and online learning are also available to students at the university. The university has seven colleges: Arts, Biological Science, School of Business and Economics, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Social and Applied Human Sciences, Agricultural College and Veterinary College. The name "college" has a long history at Guelph, and it is used to denote a set of departments that work inside a structure that is commonly referred to as a "faculty" at other universities. In four years, students at the University of Guelph obtain an honours degree and a college diploma. The university offers tight-knit community, hands-on learning and research opportunities, and specialized programs that combine theory and practice.

 

There are 14 degrees to choose from, including Arts, Applied Science, Arts and Sciences, Commerce, Bio-Resource Management, Computing, Engineering, Indigenous Environmental Science and Practice, One Health, Landscape Architecture, Science, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Veterinary Medicine. The university also offers the Honours Degree+ Diploma program at the University of Guelph, which is a unique concept to higher education. The University of Guelph-Humber in Toronto offers the curriculum that allows students to acquire both a university honours degree and a diploma in four years of full-time study.

While studying in one of the distinctive two-year diploma programs is available in the main campus and at Ridgetown location. When registering for admission to any degree programs at the University of Guelph, students who have finished one year of an associate diploma program will be regarded as college transfer applicants. Tuition fee for international students in University of Guelph

Instead of paying annually, billing and payment are done on a semester-by-semester basis. Payments are required at the start of each semester in order to spread out the financial strain rather than having to pay the full sum at the start of the academic year. Tuition and costs are determined by academic program, course load, cohort year, citizenship, accommodation and meal plan choices, and, if necessary, parking. Tuition for full-time students ranges from $24,300 to $33,551. Accommodation on-campus costs between $5,686 – $8,299 for one year.  Personal Expenses depend on your personal needs but in average it amounts to $2,250 per year.  On-Campus Meal Plans are required to acquire for students living in standard residences and optional for those living in East Residence, West Residence, and the East Village Residences. On-Campus meal plans are available in five various sizes. You can choose suitable plan for you on the basis of your appetite and on your lifestyle, whether you stay on weekends on campus. Meal plans range from $4,120 – $6,180, which depend on which size of meal plan you choose.

 

The University Health Insurance Plan is a compulsory insurance that covers the costs of hospital and medical services that overseas students may require while studying in Canada. From the first day of courses, full-time paid foreign students are covered by the University's health insurance plan. The insurance costs are calculated based on whether you start school in September, January, or May. The health-care insurance is a standard package that is subject to annual revisions. It's important to note that not all medical issues are covered. Health Insurance costs around $636 per year.

 

Mandatory university fees amount to around $400 per semester. This cost includes payment for such services as sports and recreation, academic support, transcripts, ID cards, campus safety, career services, library services, mental health services fee, student health services fee and other. There are also program-specific fees, for instance, for equipment, for field trip etc.

Students who have graduated from qualifying Canadian designated learning institutions can apply for an open work permit to get important Canadian job experience through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program. Students who have finished their program of study are permitted to work while waiting for a decision on their PGWP application, if they meet all the following conditions:

 

  • they were a full-time student enrolled at a Designated learning institution in a higher academic, vocational, or professional training program.
  • they have or had a valid study permit at the time of applying for a post-graduation work permit.
  • they were allowed to work off-campus without a work permit
  • they did not work more than the allowed hours.
