Overview of the Programs 

The University Canada West offers admission across three undergraduate programs, one graduate program, and several short courses. Undergraduate programs include the Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, Bachelor of Commerce, and Associate of Arts.

Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication provides international students with an opportunity to develop a comprehensive knowledge of media, business, and cultural studies. The elective area of the degree is Communications Management.

Bachelor of Commerce combines theoretical and practical learning that gives international students in-depth knowledge of the modern business environment. The program includes four tiers that develop the knowledge, critical thinking, and operational skills of the students. Once they have the relevant skill set, they are ready to take Capstone courses. During the study, international students can choose Accounting and Business Communication electives.

Associate of Arts is a two-year interdisciplinary program designed to provide core skills in writing, communication, research, and team performance. It prepares international students for further completing a bachelor’s degree or entering a labour market.

An MBA (Master of Business Administration) graduate study program enhances the management, leadership, critical thinking, and business ethics skills of international students. The program is focused on the practical application of theory through case studies from the real world. Elective areas include Business Analytics, Consulting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Leadership, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, and Non-Profit.

The University Canada West has two preparatory courses. If international students cannot meet the English proficiency requirements, they may be admitted to the school through the University Access Program (UAP). International applicants who do not fulfill the requirements for direct admission to the MBA program may be allowed to complete the three-month MBA Foundation program.

The short courses offered at the University Canada West are Blockchain Entrepreneurship, Blockchain Project Management Certificate Program, Certified Digital Marketing Professional, Corporate Social Responsibility, Data and Web Analytics, Introduction to Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Online E-commerce, and Social Media Marketing.

Admission Requirements 

If you want to study at the University Canada West, you should discover the entry requirements for international students. To apply for the undergraduate study program, you need to fulfill the following prerequisites.

  1. International students must provide a diploma from British Columbia high school or its foreign equivalent with an overall average of C. If you do not meet the minimum grade levels, you may be admitted to the University Canada West if you have completed no less than 30 academic post-secondary credits at a recognized institution.

International applicants must ensure their official transcripts are sent from their previous high school and post-secondary institution along with their University Canada West application. In case the applicant submits credentials from an unrecognized institution, they must provide a credential evaluation from a recognized service. If transcripts are not issued in English, the applicant must also submit their certified English translation.

  1. International students need to prove their English language proficiency through one of the following methods: English Language Instruction, English Language Test, or English as a Second Language (ESL) Program.
  2. The University Canada West may approve an international student for special admission if the applicant does not have the equivalent to the Canadian High School diploma or they do not meet the minimum admissions requirements. Such applicants must be over 21 years old and have been out of high school for at least two years. Instead of a high school diploma, the Admissions Committee will assess the education and work experience of the applicant that demonstrates their ability to succeed in their study program.

To apply for the undergraduate program at the University Canada West, international students must complete several steps.

  1. They must consult with a Recruitment Advisor to choose the most suitable study program and select a start date for the study.
  2. Applicants need to ensure they meet the admission requirements of the study program.
  3. They should complete the application form and pay the application fee of 150 CAD.

International students who want to pursue the MBA program at the University Canada West must meet the following entry requirements.

  1. Applicants need to pass an IELTS with at least a score of 6.5 or complete the UAP with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 70%. If English is your first language and you can prove that you graduated from a recognized degree program in an English-speaking country, the English language proficiency requirements are waived.
  2. International students ought to have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher in a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or complete the University Canada West MBA Foundation with a GPA of at least 72%.
  3. International students must provide one of the four documents: a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), a relevant Canadian professional designation or its international equivalent, a bachelor’s degree in business, or at least three years of documented professional or management experience.

To apply for the graduate program, international students must follow six steps.

Tuition Fees for International Students

If you decide to study at the University Canada West, you should learn more about the tuition fees for international students. On-campus bachelor’s degree programs cost 73,080 CAD, while online programs cost 32,040 CAD per year. The tuition fee for the on-campus MBA program is 36,840 CAD, while the online program costs 18,420 CAD per year. The Associate of Arts program costs 36,540 CAD per year. On-campus MBA foundation course costs 7,375 CAD, while the online course costs 3,687 CAD. University Access Program costs 5,195 CAD per course.

Perspectives of the Future Employment

During their full-time study at the University Canada West, international students can work for up to 20 hours per week. After graduation, they can get a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and work in the country for up to three years. Moreover, the Career Development Centre of the University Canada West helps international students prepare outstanding resumes and cover letters, gives them tips for job interviews, and holds weekly career workshops.
