This public research university was established as an autonomous university in 1974 in the city of Regina, in the province of Saskatchewan. But its history began in 1911 when it was known as a denominational high school of the Methodist church. Then it turned into a junior college as it was disqualified by the Church and only forty years later the University of Regina became an independent post-secondary educational establishment. Today it offers to obtain education on ten faculties with various programs leading to certificates, diplomas and degrees on the graduate and undergraduate levels. The number of full and part-time students exceeds fifteen thousand.

Programs

All the programs of the University are focused on experiential learning and it boasts more than forty one programs with co-op internship opportunities. For instance, the General Business Studies program also leads to the Bachelor’s Degree and lasts from four to five academic years. It is offered by the Faculty of Business Administration and aims at preparing students for building a career in management. Another interesting program offered by the University of Regina is International studies which lasts for four years. The program aims at learning political, economic and cultural issues on the international and regional scale. Students of this program offered by the University of Regina also study the possible ways of alleviating poverty and scarcity, learn about diplomatic service and First Nations government and federal and provincial public service. International students can choose between two concentrations: International Affairs and International Development.
