It also lasts for one academic year. After achieving a bachelor's degree in Communication Design, graduates can work as graphic designers, editorial designers, creative directors, marketing specialists, and prepress specialists.

Accommodation in Emily Carr University

Vancouver has a population of over 600,000 people and is located in the western part of the country. It boasts a lot of greenery, often hosts international summits, and has one of the busiest ports in the country. At the same time, it’s one of the most expensive cities in Canada, and even in the whole world, when it comes to housing affordability. The average rent price here is around CAD 2,500 for a one-bedroom. International students at the Emily Carr University can consider renting a flat with friends, or look for options for shared accommodation to make the amount lower.

There is no residence that is operated solely by the Emily Carr University. But international students can live in the one that belongs to the Centre for Digital Media. Another option for the students is to live in an off-campus student residence. One such residence serves the students of the Emily Carr University and is located thirty minutes away from the university campus. It offers all-inclusive, fully-furnished apartments, with washers and dryers located right in the suites. The building has a fitness center and parking inside. Students who want to live in a double room are matched together according to their interests and lifestyles. Thus, a shared bedroom for two people costs CAD 1,200 per month. A private bedroom costs CAD 1,600 per month, and the cost of a private apartment is CAD 3,000 per month.

International students at the Emily Carr University are offered the opportunity to participate in a homestay program during the study period. The idea is that students live together with a Canadian family, and they are provided with a private bedroom, meals, and access to all the home utilities. This housing option is recommended for students who are new to Canada and are only starting their studies. The reason is that family members are gently introducing international students to Canadian society, and they speak only the English language. When any problems arise, students can ask their host family for help, and they will be ready to provide it, as they basically become a student’s second family. At the same time, students can reach out to counselors, who support students during their homestay, if a student feels that they don’t get on well with family members. Before and throughout the whole homestay, they check on a student’s wellbeing and safety.
