Parents demonstrate this responsibility by first creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, and fidelity are the norm. Edmonton Catholic Schools, as a faith community, welcomes all resident students. All learners and their families feel a sense of belonging in welcoming, inclusive, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments. Edmonton Public Schools is committed to working with all education stakeholders to ensure that all students succeed, have meaningful access to curriculum, and participate in their school community.

We use Program Unit Funding to provide these children with support and services. Strong connections with family and community will be developed as needed, including Parental Involvement for Children who have disabilities and Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

Finally, a program called WIN Junior/Senior. The acronym WIN stands for "Whatever is Necessary, Whenever it's Necessary," which supports the understanding that some students benefit from alternative methods of accessing learning based on their unique and diverse needs.

Alberta Education developed the My Child's Learning Parent Resource, which Edmonton Catholic Schools successfully implemented, to help you better understand Alberta's curriculum and related information for your child. This tool can assist you in determining what your child is learning, how they are assessed, and what resources are available to help them succeed from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Kindergarten is an excellent opportunity for the child to learn about the school and to have fun while doing so. Children's natural curiosity and eagerness to learn are structured in this exciting new community through organized activities and purposeful play. The child will interact, imagine, experiment, and explore to expand their knowledge, learn new skills, and put what they've learned into practice.

Digital Citizenship

As the Edmonton Catholic Schools students communicate through digital tools and technology both in and out of the classroom, teachers and parents must collaborate with students to develop foundational Digital Citizenship abilities and knowledge for appropriate and positive technology use. When a child, teen, or adult signs up for an email address, creates an account on an app or online site, posts pictures or videos online, creates digital products, and completes digital assignments, they become a digital citizen.

As outlined in Administrative Procedure 144 Digital Citizenship, Edmonton Catholic Schools are committed to providing Digital Citizenship education and supporting the development of its students as responsible, digitally connected citizens. Edmonton Catholic Schools recognizes that to support all learners in making responsible online choices and decisions, parents must also play an important role in Digital Citizenship education. As a result, the Emerging Technology team will continue to provide parent resources and guides on the public website to assist parents in raising digitally empowered learners with the help of overcoming cyberbullying and learning about security and privacy online alongside negotiating household internet rules.
