The programs of the Northern Lights College aim to teach students only the skills that will be necessary for them to build a career and apply them in practice. Here, students can choose a certificate program, a diploma program, or a program that leads to an Associate's Degree. Completing the last one leads to a student’s transfer to the third year of university or university-college. Still, you need to be sure that the courses you’ve taken are transferable.

Students take courses like Pharmacology, Professional Communication, Health Promotion, and others while studying. To be eligible for the program, international students need to have an IELTS band score of seven as a minimum. Accommodation

International students need to think about accommodation options first before coming to the Northern Lights College to study. They may rent a flat alone or with friends. Today, the average rent price of a one-bedroom in Fort St.John in a normal area is around CAD 1,600. Living in the expensive area will cost around a thousand dollars more. The Northern Lights College offers students the opportunity to live in a student residence if they’re studying at the Dawson Creek or Fort St.John campuses. Unfortunately, housing is not provided for students from other campuses. A student’s residence in Fort St. John is located on the edge of the city, near a forest, where students often see deer, foxes, and moose. The residence is equipped with a shared library, a study room, and a cafeteria, where students are served affordable breakfasts and lunches. Today, the residence of the Northern Lights College can host 102 students overall. They live in two and four-bedroom suites, with each student having their own private bedroom but sharing bathrooms with each other. Students can choose to live in private suites or share a suite with two, three, or four other students. There is a fully equipped kitchen in each suite, with a stove and a microwave. Here, students have to pay almost the same amount: CAD 520 for a month of living in a four-bedroom suite, CAD 580 for a place in a two-bedroom suite, and twice more for a one-bedroom suite.

Future Prospects after study in Northern Lights College

After finishing one of the programs at the Northern Lights College, international students can go for another academic credential in the province of British Columbia, or travel somewhere else, either in Canada or the whole world. Students who graduate from the Northern Lights College will have no trouble finding work because degrees and diplomas earned in Canada are recognized worldwide. If an international student has completed a post-secondary full-time program in Canada and meets a number of other requirements, they can apply for a post-graduation work permit. It will allow them to stay and work in Canada for three years. If a student feels that they want to stay in Canada for a longer period, they may then apply for permanent resident status and then for Canadian citizenship. That’s how finishing the Northern Lights College can be a good start towards becoming a legitimate citizen of Canada.
