Regina Public Schools
One of the biggest school districts in the province, Regina Public Schools is located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and serves more than 24,500 students through its 44 public elementary schools, 3 faith-based affiliate schools, 8 public high schools, Campus Regina Public, and Allan Blakeney Adult Campus. On territory covered by Treaty 4 and the Métis' ancestral home, the school division is active.
A strategic plan that outlines the division's goals and desired outcomes for all students—regardless of their racial background, level of ability, aspirations, or personal circumstances—directs Regina Public Schools. This includes pupils whose native language appears to not be English and those who require intensive supports. It includes students who attend the three faith-based partner schools as well as First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students. Let’s overview the programs that the division offers for prospective international students.

Programs in Regina Public Schools
First off, Indigenous education is one of the priorities and aims of Regina Public Schools. To support learning objectives and priorities for the school division's Indigenous student population, data about them is gathered. The goal of Indigenous self-declaration is to gather statistical information to aid the school division's efforts to develop and enhance programs in a way that is relevant to Indigenous students. The voluntary information that students, parents, and guardians contribute is crucial for the school division's support of program design, service delivery, and statistical analysis for Indigenous Education.
Students and families from all over the world are welcome at Regina Public Schools. The school division respects the language and cultural diversity of all pupils enrolled in its institutions. All kids will receive the best possible educational services from the community, including assistance for those studying English as a second language. If both the parents and the children have legal immigration status in Canada, dependent children may attend Regina Public Schools. If a student is a Canadian citizen (and has at least one parent who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada) and they were not receiving English support at their prior Canadian school, they can contact their local school directly to register. The English program is for learners who would rather that all lessons, excluding those in other languages, be taught in English. For pupils who desire to take French classes in every subject, there is also the French Immersion program. In Grade 3, English Language Arts is introduced. Either Kindergarten or Grade 1 students may start the program. From September to June, Regina Public Schools provides a half-day Prekindergarten program with a competent teacher who gives play-based instruction for up to 16 kids. With a focus on the environment, the roles of dialogue and play in children's learning opportunities, the kindergarten program draws on early learning principles. Grading later in the educational process is based on the student's birth year rather than their prior grades. EAL programming is chosen based on each student's unique strengths and requirements, which are discovered through regular, ongoing evaluation.
Moreover, Regina Public Schools gives kids the chance to study Spanish, Cree, and French. French Immersion and Core French are the two alternatives for French language teaching offered by Regina Public Schools. Both initiatives provide education in French: Students in French Immersion (grades K–12) and Core French (grades 1–12) learn about and value Francophone culture. While Core French may not offer the same level of functional bilingualism as French Immersion, it does provide a strong basis for post-secondary studies that can result in greater fluency. Otherwise, feel free to learn rarely offered Cree or Spanish Languages at some of the Regina Public Schools sites!
The Outdoor program is one of the unique features of the Regina Public Schools division. The Outdoor Environmental Education Department helps teachers supplement what is being taught in the classroom by giving students practical, real-world experiences. All academic areas can benefit from these experiences, and students frequently work on multiple parts of the curriculum at once. Students from Pre-K through Grade 12 can take advantage of outdoor learning opportunities. This includes everything from expeditions into the woods to classroom-based outdoor education. With Risk Management Plans on each of our sites, safety is always prioritized when engaging in outdoor activities.
A special program called CREATE (Connecting Regina Educators & Artists Through Expertise) enables students to engage with subjects from their core academic subjects through visual art, dance, drama, and music. For the objective of creative teaching, the program fosters productive partnerships between Regina Public Schools educators and artists. In Regina Public Schools, a professional artist from the local community is assigned to each teacher who teaches Grades 3, 4, 5, or 6. Through the creation of an original educational experience for their students, the artists collaborate with classroom instructors to offer them extraordinary on-site one-on-one professional development. By providing fresh and creative ways to develop literacy and numeracy, the program seeks to improve students' academic progress. During artist visits, students can also develop meaningful connections with a range of local professionals in the arts.
Moreover, all Regina Public Schools Collegiates offer Advanced Placement courses on the schedule and/or with support from independent study and mentoring. It is significant to note that there are differences across schools in terms of the number and kind of courses provided.
The Regina Intersectoral Partnership (TRiP), a two-component, multi-sector collaborative risk-driven effort created to enhance community safety and well-being in Regina, Saskatchewan, is another distinctive feature of Regina Public Schools division. Both 11UI and twelve&up attempt to promote risk reduction and, eventually, reduced sensitivity of children and their families by focusing on integrated service assistance, removal of impediments to pro-social activities, and school participation.
Behaviors or situations that place children in a position of vulnerability" are the emphasis of TRiP's 11UI and twelve&up.
A co-curricular band class is one of Regina Public Schools' main initiatives. From September through May, band class runs as a pull-out program during the school day. Around two hours a week are dedicated to the band program for students. A 30- to 45-minute group session and an additional hour-long full band rehearsal with all local Grade 6 band students are given to each kid each week. Students usually take buses to the full-band practice. One of the most fun educational experiences a student may have is playing in the band. A person's quality of life is also enhanced by the band experience, which fosters confidence, discipline, social skills, creative expression, group responsibility, and leadership.
Ultimately, the 2022–2023 academic year will feature remote learning at Regina Public Schools. The Regina Public Schools Online Learning program, or eSCHOOL, is for children who need a different setting outside of the traditional classroom setting. There are courses that are made expressly for online study. Each online course will be instructed by an instructor who will offer resources, exercises, opportunities for assessment, and conversational opportunities. Students currently enrolled in a Regina Public school will be able to access course materials and activities on an Internet-connected device because online learning is made possible by the Internet. To prevent spending too much time in front of a screen, however, some learning is also intended to take place offline.

Future Prospects
International students who complete their studies in Canada have a range of potential prospects available to them. International students who complete a program of study at a Canadian educational institution may be eligible to apply for a post-graduate work permit (PGWP). This permit allows them to work in the country for up to three years after completing their studies, gaining valuable Canadian work experience. Another one is the Express Entry which is a federal immigration program that allows skilled workers to apply for permanent residency in Canada.. Finally, international students who obtain permanent residency in Canada may eventually become eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship, which offers a range of benefits such as voting rights and access to social programs.
