The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) was founded in 1998 in the heart of the Niagara Region. The very name of the place reminds of the world-famous Niagara Falls located in this region. Tourists from all over the globe come to see the natural miracle of the Canadian Falls. The beautiful environment, healthy climate, and perfect sport and traveling possibilities make the district extremely attractive for living and study.

The District School Board of Niagara consists of 97 elementary schools and 18 secondary schools. The number of students exceeds 43,000 and many of them are international.

The motto of the DSBN is “Achieving Success Together” and it tells a lot about the main accent in their educational approach. All students are unique personalities. To help them chase their dreams, teachers tailor specific programs that improve skills and boost confidence. Core values at the DSBN are responsibility, respect, and relationships. Mental health climate and well-being is also a priority. New innovative programs, partnerships with families and success-oriented strategy are the pillars of the Niagara School Board work. 

DSBN is an example of an innovative approach to school education. It is known in Canada for the implementation of a new online campus. Secondary school students can take their courses online. This service is run by D2L - a global software developer of the online learning management system. It allows students to pass online testing, join discussion boards, exchange emails and provides direct DSBN instant messaging. Blended learning is also an option.

Secondary schools of the DSBN provide high-quality academic preparation for the university entrance. The graduates of the Niagara School Board continue their education in the best higher educational institutions of Canada and the world. 

Extensive English as Second Language support is provided at selected school sites. The process is well-organized and natural. International students are immersed in a friendly classroom environment with native speakers. 

The District School Board of Niagara offers a wide range of classes, including Science, Business Studies, Mathematics, Canadian and World Studies, Health and Physical Education, Indigenous Education, Social Studies and the Humanities and many others. But the Board is especially known for its Specialized Arts and Technology programs. It is worth mentioning, that the DSBN students are the world champions in Robotics.

Guidance and Career Education Programs provide students with the tools they need for future professional success. The courses are designed to help them in research, inquiry, problem-solving, and decision-making processes related to planning for postsecondary education, training, or work.

The DSBN does not offer homestay programs, it is the responsibility of the parents. But, host families in the Niagara District are friendly and willing to provide the best homestay service for international students. Beautiful nature, close location to the Niagara Falls, two of the Great Lakes and the Welland Canal system make this place an amazing choice for living and study. Hiking the Niagara Gorge, cycling the Niagara Escarpment trails, ice skating, playing hockey, canoeing, fishing, and camping are some of the activities available all year-round.

The Full-year Tuition Fee for Secondary School is 14,300 CAD, the Application Fee is 250 CAD.

High-level support of the international students during their stay at the schools of the Niagara District is guaranteed by in-school and student support services. Classroom teachers, ESL teachers, Student Success teachers, Special Education teachers, academic guidance counselors, settlement workers, and DSBN student buddies do their best to make the process of student`s adaptation to the Canadian life smooth and pleasant.
