The University of Calgary is a remarkable Canadian university in the country's most industrial metropolis. Programs in University of Calgary

The University of Calgary has 14 faculties that provide over 250 programs across its five campuses. At the undergraduate level, the University offers more than 110 majors. It also has over 70 graduate and certification programs to choose from. The most popular disciplines in the institution are Arts, Science, and Engineering. The Faculty of Arts has 41 programs. The Faculty of Arts is the university's biggest faculty, which  was established in 2010.  Since then, the Faculty of Arts has grown to become the most extensive and multidisciplinary faculty at the university, encompassing fields from the humanities, history of arts, and social sciences. Graduating from programs in this faculty you can become a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Music. You can also choose linguistics and choose French, Spanish, English programs, or East Asian language studies. The faculty of Science has 13 programs including actuarial science, ecology, biological science, physics, zoology. Schulich School of Engineering has 9 programs including biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, energy engineering, software engineering.

 

The university also has Haskayne School of Business, which offers such programs as accounting, finance, marketing, supply chain management and others. Maclean's has listed the Haskayne School of Business among Canada's  best 20 business schools in 2021, and Corporate Knights has ranked it among the top 10 business undergraduate programs on sustainability in 2020.

 

The Haskayne School of Business has international accreditation of the AACSB. Only 5% of the world's schools offering business degrees have received AACSB accreditation, which is the gold standard in business education.  Since 1985, Haskayne has retained its accreditation. Every five years, the school must carry out a full internal review to prove its continued commitment to quality standards relating to faculty qualifications, strategic management and innovation, interrelations between faculty and students, and a commitment to permanent improvement and accomplishment of educational objectives in degree programs.

Tuition fees for international students

Tuition fees for the program, meals and lodging, books and supplies, and other personal expenses are all should be considered when estimating the cost of living for overseas students attending the University of Calgary. This cost will vary depending on the student's program, accommodations, and other expenditures. For instance, the tuition fee for one term (2021 - 2022) for the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Social Work is $11,094.60. Student tuition fee for the School of Business is $11,533, while the tuition fee for the School of Engineering is $15,033. Other Expenses consist of general fees and personal expenses. General Fee is $670.32 per term. General fees add value to your education and are collected in addition to your tuition payments. Among the several advantages are: Athletics and Leisure: Total access to all athletic facilities on campus, as well as free entry to all Dino varsity and club sport events. Student Health and Dental Coverage: During your studies, you'll have access to a health and dental plan.

The UPass gives access to all of Calgary's C-Train (subway) and bus services. Student Services: Support services available during the study.

First-year undergraduates under the age of 21 are guaranteed accommodation in single or double occupancy rooms in a first-year dormitory-style residence during the first two years of their studies at the University of Calgary. Meal plans are mandatory for first-year students. Furnishing, utilities, internet services, and student activities are all included in the residence fees.

Living on Campus costs minimum of $1,976.50 per term (a double room in Kananaskis or Rundle Halls). Single room costs $3,277,5 per term there. There are two other options: International House and Yamnuska Hall, which are more expensive. Two-bedroom suite there costs $3,644.50 per term. Meal Plan Per Term costs $2,439.50 based on the Unlimited 7-Day plan for on-campus students. All above-mentioned costs are valid only for the moment when the article was published and can be changed next year. Personal Expenses are on average $1,000 per term. Extra expenses such as clothes, haircuts, toiletries, leisure, other activities, and entertainment should be accounted for in the range of $500 to $2000 per term.

Career and immigration opportunity after study in University of Calgary

 The University of Calgary holds regular career fairs for students. Career fairs have the advantage of being large-scale, high-volume events with a wide audience. Each fair is designed to connect companies with students, assuring that everyone has the best chance of making the right connections at the events. Students at the University of Calgary are encouraged with a desire to serve and lead in their communities throughout their studies. The university provides a variety of opportunities for students to prepare for life beyond university, including volunteering, on-campus jobs, and other activities that promote active citizenship and community involvement. Internship and practicum experiences that promote a student's professional progress exemplifies the experiential learning focus. The Winter Career Fair will be held on January 19, 2022. The Winter Career Fair attracts students from all faculties, making it an excellent opportunity for students to promote and actively recruit for full-time careers, internships/co-ops, and summer student positions. This fair will be conducted online.

 

Education Career Fair  is an in-person fair which is mostly attended by Education students, with some Arts students.

The Industry Fair is the virtual career fair that will be attended by students from all faculties. It provides an excellent opportunity to promote or actively recruit for permanent, internship, or co-op positions.  Students from the School of Engineering, the School of Business, the Faculty of Arts, and the Faculty of Science make up the majority of those that attend this event. The fair will be held online in 2022.

 After graduating from the university, you can apply for a post-graduation work permit from Canada if you are eligible. You can make an application for PGWP if:

 

  • your study permit has been valid for the last 180 days
  • you have a valid visitor record
  • you made an application to prolong your study permit before it expired, and no decision was made on your application
  • you made an application to change your status to a visitor before your study permit was overdue and no decision was made on your application.
