Ryerson University: School Overview

Ryerson University has a great location - in the centre of Toronto, Canada, the biggest city in North America. Ryerson University has a long history of providing innovative, career-focused education, and it meets current societal requirements. It began as a postsecondary institution called after Ontario's first Superintendent of Education and renowned public-school promoter, Egerton Ryerson. The Ryerson Institute of Technology was established in the 20th and was an innovative substitution to the conventional education system of technical learning. It was established mainly as a training ground for the rising workforce of a growing post-war economy.

Ryerson was granted full university status in 1993, demonstrating its commitment to expanding its research capabilities and academic reach. The institution began offering graduate and doctoral degree programs in the subsequent years.  Ryerson Polytechnic University was renamed to Ryerson University in the beginning of 21st century to reflect the school's growing reputation as a full-fledged university with outstanding academic programs. Nowadays, Ryerson University is a renowned Canadian university and one of the best for undergraduates in Canada. Ryerson University is one of Toronto's most prestigious public universities. In the QS Global World Rankings 2022, it is placed #801-1000. The university attracts students from almost 150 countries all over the world.

The main campus of Ryerson University is situated in the centre of downtown Toronto's busiest district. Its location is in Yonge-Dundas Square. The University is in an ideal place because Toronto is the hub of all media production companies and networks, and its economy is innovative in terms of technology, design, financial services, education, the arts, and business. Because opportunities are right outside the doors of the university, students may engage with leaders in culture, business, health care, and government.

Ryerson University's second campus - Brampton campus, which will serve as an innovation hub, is anticipated to open in 2022. This campus will offer programs in science, engineering, technology, arts, and mathematics.

The university has all facilities necessary for comfortable and interesting studying and recreation. The university's Mattamy Athletic Centre (located in the old Maple Leaf Gardens arena) includes full-size basketball and volleyball courts, a cardio center, a fitness facility, and other amenities. The library encompasses 11 floors and contains over 5 lakh books, 3000 printed publications, 90,000 electronic books. Administrative offices, urban and regional planning offices, the reading room, cafes, and LCD screens are also located there. All the structures are a few decades old, but they appear to be fairly new due to excellent maintenance.

On the Ryerson University campus, there are three residential buildings. International students are welcome to apply and live in any of the campus residence halls. On-campus, living costs range from $3,000 to $3,400. Meal plans are available to students in the university residence. The seven-day meal plan costs $5,949, or $24.37 per day, and includes meals every day of the week. You'll also get $450 in flex money to spend at participating stores. The meal plan runs out at the end of the educational year. All flex money that has been left over at the conclusion of the academic year can be carried over and spent at participating stores on campus the following year.
