The York Disctrict  School Board (YRDSB) is the third-largest school board in Ontario and the fastest-growing one in the province. It consists of 208 schools, 33 of which are secondary. The number of students exceeds 128,000, more than 2500 of them are international. The headquarters of YRDSB is located in Aurora, the Board serves nine municipalities: Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Whitchurch-Stouffville. The closest international airports are in Toronto.

The Co-operative Education Program effectively combines classroom theory with practical experience in real workplaces. The Program is available in all  the YRDSB schools that have partnerships with businesses or community organizations. Teachers and placement supervisors work together and provide students with the necessary practical skills. Another option to consider is the Specialist High Skills Major Program.  It allows students to experience a range of unique career-focused learning opportunities. The Ministry of Education of Ontario has developed this program for many of the industry and business sectors in the province. The York Region District School Board offers Specialist High Skills Major Programs in ten different sectors. Students customize their high school experience and explore new ways of learning.

The York Region District School Board also offers Personalized Alternative Education Programs. They are distinguished from the mainstream curriculum and use unconventional classroom settings and altered timetables.  

The Board welcomes thousands of international students from around the world. They can choose full-year academic programs or short-term programs such as the Summer English Language Academy or Winter Outdoor World Camp. The Full-year Tuition Fee is 14,650 CAD, the Application Fee is 300 CAD, the Annual Health Insurance Fee is 450 CAD.

Be aware, that minor international students , who would like to study in School Board and will be not accompanied by their parents, during the whole period of education, must have Canadian Custodian for successful study permit application to Canada and legal stay as well.
