This Catholic Pontifical University was established in 1848 and was initially known as the College of Baytown and then as the College of Ottawa. The Saint Paul University is affiliated with the University of Ottawa, which was created to inherit the possessions of the former College of Ottawa, while  it, in turn, maintained its pontifical and civil codes.  Now, University offers a number of graduate and undergraduate programs available to international students as well. Programs

There are five faculties at the University: Theology, Human Sciences, Canon Law, Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Research and Philosophy. And also six schools: School of Conflict Studies, Schools of Counseling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality, School of Ethics, Social Justice and Public Service, School of Social Communication, School of Social Innovation and School of Transformative Leadership. 

For instance, the Schools of Conflict Studies of the University offers two Honours Bachelor’s degree programs in Conflict Studies and with a major in Conflict Studies. If you want to learn how to settle disputes, study its psychological and social aspects and find the ways of the resolution of interpersonal, national, international and other types of conflicts, then you should definitely apply for the program at the Saint Paul University. International students will learn the following courses: Mediation, Negotiation, Research Methods in Conflict Studies, Inequality, Conflict and Social Justice, Neutral Third Party, Causes of Conflict from different perspectives such as Biological, Sociological, Rationalist, Psychological and others. The program of Conflict Studies lasts for four years and some of the courses mentioned above are delivered in the online mode. The School of Counseling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality of the Saint Paul University offers the Honours Bachelor program in Human Relations and Spirituality. As the name of the program of Saint Paul University is quite transparent, it focuses on human relations and its correlation with spirituality. During the program, you will learn how to build a good rapport with people and teach others different techniques and methods of being able to do the same. On the graduate level, Saint Paul University offers the program of Master’s in Counseling and Spirituality with two specializations you may choose from: Couple and Family Counseling and Individual Counseling. The Master’s program in Counseling and Spirituality: Couple and Family Counseling of the Saint Paul University focuses on instructing professionals who will be able to work with couples and individuals conducting consultations and providing them guidance in the questions of spirituality and couple dynamics. This program of the Saint Paul University presupposes learning the following courses: Theories of Family Systems and Interventions, Professional Issues and Ethics in Spiritual Care, Psychopathology and Treatment and a number of others. School of Social Communication of Saint Paul University offers the Honors Bachelor program in Social Communication. This program of Saint Paul University focuses on researching traditional and digital media, social network and journalism, as well as the tools of effective delivery of words and images to the audience. During the four-years period you will learn the following courses: Media and Ethics, Critical Analysis, Reading and Writing Academic Works, Social Marketing, Media and Great Social Debates, Argumentation and Persuasive Communication, Communications for Sustainable Development, Social Communications and Social Media and a number of others. After successful comprehension of all these courses and an internship, which every student is to complete during the program, you will be able to work in various spheres such as Journalism, Marketing, Advertising and Communications. 

The Providence School of Transformative Leadership and Spirituality offers the Master’s program in Transformative Leadership and Spirituality and a Transformative Leadership and Spirituality program which leads to a graduate diploma. The graduate diploma program of the University lasts five terms on the part-time basis and three terms on the full-time basis. International students will learn the following programs: Women’s Spiritualities and Transformative Leadership, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Worldview, Religion and Culture and others. After successful acquisition of the courses, international students will have a chance to go for the Master’s program of the same field at the Saint Paul University. 

The Faculty of Canon Law of the University offers students to achieve a graduate diploma on the program of Canon Law, Canonical Practice and Ecclesiastical Administration. Here you may also achieve the Master’s and Doctorate degree in Cannon Law. 

As for the cost of studies at the University, international students are to pay around $8377 CAD per term for studying a full-time undergraduate program. A part-time program will cost an international student around $2000 CAD per three units. A graduate full-time program will cost an international student around $8302 CAD. 

University offers a special scholarship for international students who wish to study one of the programs in the French language. If you decide to study one of the Honours Bachelor or Master programs in the French language, then you may have a chance to receive $1500 as a scholarship per semester and $4500 if you study a doctorate level program at the University.

Accommodation 

While studying at the University, international students can decide to live in a students’ residence in Ottawa. University provides students with fully furnished suites made in an apartment style. Each apartment is equipped with a kitchenette and a bathroom, while every student has a private bedroom. A kitchenette in a suite comprises a microwave, a fridge and a sink and there is a double bed, a desk, a dresser and a cable TV in each bedroom. There is a common kitchen on each floor of the University residence, which is open twenty four hours a day and equipped with stoves so that students can cook food anytime they want. There are also students’ lounges and a laundry room in the Saint Paul University residence. Moreover, for students to keep fit and socialize, the Saint Paul University allocated space for a movie lounge and a fitness centre also right in the residence building. Every two weeks housekeepers clean the common areas in the suites: a kitchen and a bathroom, while students of Saint Paul University are to clean their own rooms themselves.
