This educational post-secondary establishment was established in 1979 and is usually abbreviated to LCV. It was initially known as the Art Institute of Vancouver, with the main campus in Burnaby. But in 2017, it was rebranded to reflect the new goals and academic programs of the institutions that started to offer courses in fields ranging from Culinary Arts to Film and Video Making. Its main campus has now been relocated to Vancouver in the province of British Columbia. Moreover, LaSalle College Vancouver became a part of the LCI educational network, which encompasses twenty-three campuses all around the world. The network was founded in Quebec in 1959 by a fashion designer who wanted to share his knowledge and experience with all those who were passionate about the design and fashion worlds. So besides a campus in Canadian Vancouver, LaSalle College can be found in Spain, Australia, and Columbia, where students can travel to take academic exchange programs.

Accommodation in LaSalle College Vancouver

Vancouver is not only known for its busy cultural life but also for its extremely high rental prices compared to the average prices inside and outside of Canada. For example, an average unfurnished one-bedroom will cost around CAD 2,500, while a bedroom will be somewhere around CAD 3,600. Of course, the final price depends on a flats location within a city and neighbourhood. Still, many students prefer to rent a flat with their friends or opt for a shared accommodation option.

The LaSalle College Vancouver doesnt have its own dormitory, because there are special agencies that provide students from different institutions with housing. One of them is GEC, which has many buildings scattered around the city, each located in places convenient for a specific college or university. As the LaSalle College Vancouver partners with GEC, it provides places for students in the building located near the Metro Vancouver area. International students can choose the type of room, they feel most comfortable to reside in. There are shared and private bedrooms with common or private washrooms. Private apartments are also available for rent. A place in a shared bedroom will cost the LaSalle College Vancouver students around CAD 1200 per month, while a private bedroom is four hundred dollars more. All the rooms are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi connection and smart locks. Housekeepers regularly visit the housing and help students keep the rooms clean. Every month, students can relax at the events organized by the administration, where they can meet other international students from different countries and educational establishments.

Other students tend to choose to participate in a homestay program, if they need to enjoy a homely atmosphere during their studies at the LaSalle College Vancouver. Host families provide a student with a private bedroom, and other house facilities. Basically, an international student becomes a part of the host family as they share meals and spend weekends and holidays together. Usually, participation in a homestay program costs an international student somewhere around CAD 1000, but transfers to and from the airports and special food preferences may demand a bigger amount. Usually, homestay providers do everything possible to match a student and a potential host family according to their interests and mentalities, but sometimes they may face some problems while coexisting together. When students encounter any problems, they may reach out to a homestay provider and ask to change a family. Before being allowed to host students, all the families are carefully inspected and prepared to provide a foreigner with accommodation, which is why such situations are very rare.
